Changing the Battery in Your Mazda 3 Key Fob
There is nothing more frustrating than returning to your vehicle after a long day and discovering that the key fob battery is dead. Luckily, it's simple to fix it with the simple replacement of a battery at the hardware store or big box retailer.
Adding a spare key fob to your Mazda 3 can be an affordable way to keep yourself from the hassle of being taken to the dealer and having them reprogram your keys.
Battery Replacement
Changing the battery in the Mazda 3 key fob is an easy procedure that you can do at home. You should only replace it when the battery dies or if you see a message reading "Low keyfob battery" on the multi-information display. Replace battery."
To open the key fob case, you'll need a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver and a bit of patience. The head of the flathead screwdriver in a notch or gap, on the bottom metal of the Mazda 3 key fob to take off the lower portion. Repeat the procedure for the top metal piece, but be sure not to damage the rubber ring at the bottom of the case.
Once the fob case is open, you'll see the slot on either side of the case, which houses the battery. Use the flathead screwdriver with tape to gently the case open, starting at one end and shifting to the other. Remove the old CR2025 and replace it with a new one, making sure to put it on its face to ensure the correct direction of polarity. Finally, place the cap back on and then reattach both sides of the key fob's case. Continue pressing until you hear them click.

The chip may cease to function and may require replacement of the keyfob. If you have a key that is able to be programmed and cleaned using electronic cleaners or isopropyl to restore its functionality. If this does nothing you can be sure that the chip has burned out and will need to be replaced.
Locking/Unlocking the Doors
The buttons on the key fob transmit electronic signals to the solenoid in the car, which converts this signal into mechanical action. This locks and unlocks doors. If the door lock doesn't work, it could be an issue with the solenoid. This will require professional repair shops to look into.
